Last Event: NOV 2023 – 9th GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN KOZHIKODE, INDIA

SUCCESFULL GENERAL ASSEMBLY CELEBRATED IN INDIA

This year meeting has been a before and after in the history of ICCN: Secretariat has been relocated from the City Hall of Algemesí to Folkland International Centre for Folklore and Culture, being the first NGO running the headquarters of our network

The idea to give Associated Members the right to hold Secretariat was a proposal of Algemesí Secretariat, who was firstly shared in Gangneung 2021 General Assembly and finally approved in Sicily 2022 Thematic Workshop.

In this year meeting, the General Assembly elected Dr. V. Jayarajan as the new ICCN General Secretary, a role who was proudly transfered from the previous ICCN President José Javier Sanchis Bretones along with the General Secretary to date Julio Ramon Blasco Nacher.

This is a crucial change in the core of our beloved organization. In words of distinguished Prof. Amareswar Galla, one of the ICCN founding members, in the closure of the general assembly meeting: “Congratulations to the Secretariat and members to have made this organization more democratic.”

Folkland India hosted the 9th General Assembly in Kozhikode, Kerala, India, from 10th to 14th November with the participation of almost 30 delegates coming from all the corners of the world including Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Spain, Bangladesh, Iran, Korea, Brazil, Behrain, Nepal or Botswana.

This General Assembly has been one of the most popular ones regarding the impact of press media and the implication of the representatives and organizations of the host country, who have given the international delegates and outstanding welcome.

During four days ICCN participants, Indian authorities and ICH national and international experts were able to bring to the table and exchange knowledge related to the management of ICH in two idyllic settings: the Raviz Kadavu resort & Markaz Knowledge City.

Thank you to all the organizers and participants of this magnificient meeting and congratulations to the new ICCN General Secretary, Dr. V. Jayarajan!
